Policies & FAQ

Clear expectations, happy dogs.

A smooth grooming experience starts with knowing what to expect. Here's everything you need to know before your dog's appointment.

Salon policies

Vaccination requirements

All dogs must be up to date on their Rabies and Distemper (DHPP) vaccinations. Bordetella (kennel cough) is strongly recommended. Please bring proof of vaccination to your first appointment, or have your vet send records in advance.

Cancellations & rescheduling

I ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations (under 24 hours) or no-shows may be subject to a fee. I understand life happens — just reach out as soon as you can.

Health & condition

Please let me know in advance if your dog has any health conditions, injuries, or sensitivities. Dogs that are visibly unwell on the day of their appointment may need to be rescheduled for their comfort and safety.

Matting & coat condition

Severely matted coats may require additional time and cost, or in some cases a shorter clip for the dog's comfort. I will always discuss options with you before proceeding. Dematting is only performed when it can be done humanely.

Senior dogs & special needs

Senior dogs and those with mobility or anxiety challenges are always welcome. Appointments may take longer and I'll check in with you about any adjustments needed. Your dog's comfort comes first.

Pick-up & drop-off

Please arrive at your scheduled time. If you're running late, a quick heads-up is appreciated. Dogs should be picked up promptly when their groom is complete — I'll send a message when your pup is ready.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a grooming appointment take?

Most appointments take between 1.5 and 3 hours depending on your dog's size, coat type, and the services requested. I'll give you a more accurate estimate after your needs analysis.

Can I stay during the appointment?

Most dogs actually relax more easily without their owner present — it's a common pattern in grooming. I'm happy to chat about what works best for your dog during the needs analysis.

How often should my dog be groomed?

It depends on breed and coat type. Most dogs benefit from a professional groom every 6–8 weeks. Dogs with longer or faster-growing coats may need more frequent visits. I'll make a recommendation based on your dog.

What if my dog is nervous or anxious?

Anxious dogs are welcome and I take a calm, patient approach. Please mention any anxiety or past grooming challenges in your needs analysis so I can prepare. Some dogs benefit from shorter, more frequent visits to build comfort.

Do you groom all breeds?

I groom most breeds. If you have a breed with very specific styling requirements or a dog with complex needs, reach out first so we can discuss whether I'm the right fit.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is based on your dog's size, coat condition, and the services requested. I provide a per-dog estimate after the needs analysis — no surprises on the day of the appointment.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or Etransfer.
